SUMMER SEASON 2022

June 1 October 2

October 1st  – May 31st: You should hike only with a guide!

We do not have Mountain Ranger in the mountain in the winter season.
Remember that now in winter the days are short and the weather can change very quickly. For your safety, we only recommend guided tours.

Another beautiful day at Trolltunga ☀️☀️☀️ Remember sunglasses, sun protection, waterproof hiking boots and poles.

The snow is melting fast, but there is still snow along most of the trail to Trolltunga (70–75 % from P3 Mågelitopp).
We recommend waterproof hiking boots and poles.

NB! We are now changing from winter to summer trail and it is important to follow the sticks in the melting period – the winter trail crosses many lakes. It is dangerous to go outside the marked trail. This particularly applies to the last 1.3 km to Trolltunga.

DANGER! Don't walk on the snow at the edge of the Trolltunga Plateau. The snow can break!

ROAD CLOSURE

Tyssohallen – Skjeggedal

TROLLTUNGA

Norway’s most spectacular rock formation

Trolltunga is one of the most scenic and spectacular cliffs in Norway, hovering 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake. Situated at the western edge of the Hardangervidda plateau, near the town of Odda, Trolltunga was carved by the icecap that once covered most of Scandinavia.

The hike through high-mountain terrain up to Trolltunga (1180 m) is long and demanding, but you are rewarded with magnificent views.

From the main trailhead at P2 in Skjeggedal, the round-trip hike is 27 km with an ascent of almost 800 metres. The estimated hiking time is 8–12 hours.

There is an additional trailhead at P3 Mågelitopp. The round-trip hike from P3 Mågelitopp is 20 km with an ascent of about 320 metres. The estimated hiking time is 7–10 hours.

Hikers need to be properly equipped and in good shape.

~~ Cestovatelský čtvrtek ~~

Muž na hraně "trolího jazyka" hledí do mlhy husté tak, že by se dala krájet. Trolltunga, jedna z nejznámějších vyhlídek Norska. Fotografie dojmem pusté divočiny místu lichotí, lidí tu potkáte dost a dost, patrně vcelku bez ohledu na počasí a denní dobu.

Hiking dos and don’ts

Always

  • Bring plenty of food and drink.
  • Bring extra warm, windproof and waterproof clothing.
  • Stay together with your fellow hikers – never leave them on their own.
  • Help keep our mountain wilderness pristine! Please carry all your garbage back, discard it in the rubbish bins in the parking lots. Small rubbish bags are available from your bus driver.
  • Your campsite and toilet visits must be downhill from trails and well away from streams.

Never

  • For safety reasons, don’t operate drones in the hiking areas.
  • Never attach stickers onto signs or information boards.
This information is vital to all hikers!
  • Don’t light campfires between April 15th and September 15th
  • Don’t pollute our streams!
  • No camping at the trailhead
