Getting to Trolltunga

Trolltunga is easily accessible by both car and public transport. Several daily bus services connect Voss, Bergen, Stavanger, and Oslo, making it convenient to reach the area.

Where is Trolltunga?

Trolltunga is located 1,180 meters above sea level, east of the village of Tyssedal. The nearest town is Odda, which is part of Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland County.

By car

There are several routes to Odda and Trolltunga, and getting there by car is easy. There are multiple charging stations along the road to Odda and within the town itself. However, be sure to check the locations of charging stations for electric vehicles before your trip.

Please note that there are no charging stations at the Trolltunga parking areas.

The journey takes approximately:

By train

The train ride between Bergen and Oslo, the Bergen Line (Bergensbanen), is one of Europe’s most beautiful train journeys and is running all year. Bus connections to Odda from the stations in Bergen and Voss.

By bus

The transportation company Skyss runs the local buses in Bergen, Voss, and Hardanger. Most bus routes are year-round, some are seasonal. You will find timetables and further information you can find at the Skyss homepage

NOR-WAY runs express buses connecting Hardanger and Odda with Oslo, Sandefjord, Larvik, Kristiansand, Stavanger and Haugesund. You will find timetables and booking information here.

Shuttle Buses to Trolltunga During the Summer Season

In the summer, shuttle buses operate from Odda to P2 Skjeggedal, with a connecting shuttle running from P2 Skjeggedal to P3 Mågelitopp.

The buses stop at designated stops near accommodations along the route. For more details, see the dedicated page.

By boat

The Hardangerfjord-Ekspressen speedboat operates year-round between Bergen and Rosendal, with daily departures from Strandkaiterminalen in Bergen city center. Along the way, the ferry stops at Flesland, Os, and Malkenes, making it possible to travel directly from Bergen Airport Flesland to Rosendal.
