National tourist trail!
Trolltunga is one of the most spectacular rock formations in Norway. Here you will find tourists from all over the world.
Show consideration by following these simple advice and commandments. Here's how to make sure your visit doesn't diminish the experience for others.
Use adapted areas for camping
The right of public access does not apply everywhere: avoid built-up areas, rest areas, parks and parking lots.
Hide your tracks
Avoid leaving marks in nature such as cairns, tent sites and the like. Let those who come after you have as good an experience as you.
Follow the path, avoid new footsteps
Stick to marked paths to preserve nature and prevent wear and tear on vegetation.
Throw the waste in the trash can
Are you in an area with no garbage cans? Take the waste home with you and dispose of it in a suitable container.
Use established toilets
If this is not possible, dig a small hole in the ground. Avoid using wet wipes, as they decompose slowly in nature.
Respect private property
It is not allowed to pitch closer than 150 meters from houses or cottages in the outback. If you want to pitch on land, you must have permission from the landowner.
Pay attention to traffic
The roads in Hardanger are narrow and many are on the move. Keep a good distance when passing cyclists, and pay special attention in tunnels.
Bonfire ban
From April 15 to September 15, there is a general ban on bonfires and the use of open fires. Use established fire pits, making sure there is no risk of fire.
Show respect for animal and bird life
Do not disturb wildlife. Remember leash coercion for dogs.
For the good of you and the environment
We recommend organized activities under the auspices of local actors. You can find an overview of these at www.hardangerfjord.com.
